DAW poll: Which of these do you use/recommend (the most)?

Which of these DAWs do you use/recommend in 2018/2019?

This is a multiple choice poll: You can vote for more than one.

If in doubt, vote for the DAWs that you are most happy with/which you are most likely to recommend.

And - btw, if any of you wonder why the DAWs are listed in the order they are: they are listed according to the number of votes they got in the previous poll.

I voted sonar, because it's DEAD and doesn't deserve to be here.

I voted for Sonar as well because I use it and will use it for a long time to come, but I can't recommend it for 2 reasons, One it's not for sale anymore and Two I personally think trying to recommend a DAW for someone else is pointless because there is no way of knowing what workflow a stranger is going to be comfortable with. That's a personal and quirky thing that's impossible anyway besides DAW's having mostly the same features these days. Nothing personal, but I don't really understand the point of this thread or why I voted.

There's no point in this thread. :-)

If you know the person who asks for a recommendation, or at last know what he's going to do with his DAW (compose? audio engineering? EDM?), it's IMO possible to recommend something.

Had I known that Sonar isn't for sale anymore, it could have been left out of the poll. Next time.

Well, all joking aside, it's a crap-shoot. And I've craped out a bunch (I'll explain it to those interested, but 7-out is the norm )

I'm just glad that bitwig and cubase are still being developed, with reason in the rear-view mirror*

*Well, they just don't improve the workflow at all, a real bummer, otherwise I'd be on board.

Only been up for a few days but the results already are pretty much what I'd expect of the userbase here.

Also the formatting is much, much better now.

Flawed poll. There's no "other" choice

I wish there were a rule against DAW polls and college surveys. Both are SPAM, IMHO.

Adds to the SPAM feeling that some of the options appear as links. Maybe it's part of GS's grab for ad dollars, auto linking certain terms?

What's wrong with "I use something else (please specify)"? ;-)

The links which appear for some of the DAWs got entered automatically.

I don't see this even vaguely related to spam. Noise, maybe - but not spam. :-)

Yes, the links are a 'feature' of Gearslutz, not of this poll.

It's annoying, and you can disable it with your ad blocker if you want.

Hi all, due to how the poll is set up, the percentage value you can see is a little misleading. There are 133 voters so far, and to use Logic as an example: it has received votes from 25.56% of the voters... that number is correct. But Logic has received 15.5% of the votes. The previous DAW polls I started weren't Multiple Choice polls, so we can't really compare the numbers in this poll with the others. So, based on the numbers so far, one out of 4 DAW users (25.56%)in this poll own Logic, and 15.5% of the voters see Logic as a DAW they "use/recommend the most?". Sorry for the confusion!

Percentages so far:

Apple Logic Pro 15,5

Cockos Reaper 15,5

Avid Pro Tools 12,3

Steinberg Cubase 11,9

PreSonus Studio One 11,0

Ableton Live 6,4

Magix Samplitude 3,7

Cakewalk Sonar 3,2

Harrison MixBus 3,2

Propellerheads Record/Reason 3,2

Motu Digital Performer 2,3

Tracktion Waveform 1,8

Bitwig Studio 1,4

Steinberg Nuendo 1,4

Image Line FL Studio 1,4

Magix Sound Forge 1,4

Magix Sequoia 0,9

Ardour 0,9

Steinberg WaveLab 0,9

Adobe Audition 0,9

Acoustica Mixcraft 0,5

---I use something else (please specify) 0,5

Reaper rocks. I thought it would be crazy do use such a cheap software together with tens of thousands worth of outboard gear, but it turns out Reaper is better than Pro Tools HD when it comes to integration with external gear. Such a great software. Big step up in my productivity.

Hold the phone. Since then a company called BandLab acquired the rights to the software and offer it free of charge.
