Apogee Sympthony MKI upgrade over RME UFX?

Hi chaps,

I am currently using a RME UFX which I am basically happy with.
However, I know there is better converters out there.
Main purpose is recording electronic music such as drumachines, synthesizers, effects and the likes.
I want to add a Nicearizer soon for analog summing.

Now I am offered a Apogee Sympthony 16x16 MKI for quite a bargain and am wondering if this would give me a justified upgrade over the RME UFX.
I know specs are different with no direct-USB recording on the Apogee but therefor 16 I/Os instead 12 on the RME.

thankfull for every opinion

thanks

Some people complained about the noise of Symphony´s fans... Check that out before making the jump... (deal breaker for me actually)

If it's a single card slot 16x16 board, then the fans won't rev up. It's only when you fill both slots with different boards that the temps rise and fans become audible. I have the single 16x16 card and the fans are never louder than a whisper where you have to put your ear really close to the unit to hear it. The unit sounds amazing, go for it.

Yes, confirmed. No loud fan noise with one card per chassis, at least in the Symphony Mk1 generation.
