Which is more powerful?

Since I invested in a very strong new laptop, I have 2 older laptops free, 1 of which I want to give to a friend. I want to keep the stronger one of the 2...so which one of these is stronger overall?

ASUS (circa late 2011)

Windows 10 Home x64
Version: 1703
OS Build: 15063.413
Processor: Intel(R) Core(TM) i7 - 2670QM CPU @ 2.20ghz 2.20ghz
RAM: 8mb 1333hz SODIMM
GFX: Intel(R) HD Graphics 3000
NVIDIA GeForce GT 540M

SAMSUNG (2014)

Windows 10 Pro x64
Version: 1703
OS Build: 15063.413
Processor: Intel(R) Core(TM) i7 - 3537U CPU @ 2.00ghz 2.50ghz
RAM: 8mb 1600mhz SODIMM
GFX: AMD Radeon HD8750M
Intel(R) HD Graphics 4000

I'm guessing it's the Samsung?

Thanks

Hi. Do they have the same HD/SSD?
If so, I would agree that the Samsung is the one to keep.
All the best.

Neither have SSD. The HDs are basically the same I imagine.

Just looking at the specs again, I think you're right. The Samsung may be a bit better.

Thanks

To the OP, sorry to go off topic but can you tell me about your new laptop specs and fan noise etc. I am looking for a new laptop and dont really know where to start. Thanks in advance.

I'll tell you some details....the ASUS laptop I specc'd above, in the opening post had a fan that would kick in quite often...but then I upped the ram from 6 to 8mb...and since then it has performed very quietly. I guess it has more capacity to handle processes. Or to carry out multiple processes with more capacity.

Anyway, my new laptop doesn't make a sound...though I haven't taxed it yet...and with my needs, probably rarely will.

The discussion can be found in this thread:

Laptops go ok?

The specs of my new laptop:

16gig ram
i7 6700HQ CPU @2.6ghz
250g SSD + 1tb HDD

It's very able

Here for the gear

Although the Asus has a more powerful CPU compared to the Samsung I think the Samsung is the better choice as its has a newer processor which has faster single core performance, less power consumption, faster ram support and the laptop has a better graphics card.

Its funny how Intel calls the 3537U an i7 when it fact its a dual core processor compared to the 4 on the 2670QM.

U - Ultra-low power since its a 17 watt TDP processor comapared to 45W in the 2670

QM - Quad-Core Mobile

Wow, great knowledge

By the way, what does HQ stand for relating to Intel CPUs?
