External HD for audio ??

Hello,
I just ran a test and wanted to get a few opinions.
I record on a MacBook Pro early 2011
2.7ghz i7
16gb ram
500gb internal drive
All of my audio goes to an external 2gb glyph in FireWire.
Another 2tb glyph for my sample libraries.
I've been recording without any issues whatsoever:-)
As a test I copied 38 tracks of audio with plugins on every track,
I also copied another 4 tracks of midi,
I shut off the external drives just to see how my mac would handle it,
And to my surprise,
It ran beautifully?
I know the motto, if it ain't broke don't fix it right lol
The other reason I tried this is because the two glyph's aren't exactly quiet during recording.
Any thoughts on this ?
This was a big song with a lot of tracks and plugins and it just danced away :-)

I don't have a Mac so I can't answer this. However, I have run stuff on my Windows laptop. Depending on the DAW? I can go crazy or not. Reason doesn't require much resources. I can run it on my Yoga that has only a 128GB SSD. ProTools does. I don't think I can even load it on my Yoga.

But Mac's do have Core Audio which is so much better than Windows audio.

I hear you,
Ive only worked on macs because that's the first computer I was taught on.
My little laptop is quit amazing,
Another reason I asked was because the two external drives I have aren't silent,
So I just ordered a long FireWire cable so I could keep them in my closet,
Noise problem solved lol.
