Intel i7 Cores 4 or 6

Hi there- I'm Loopings for a new processor and I'm asking you what you would recommend. I have a lot of softsynths and am using Ableton. Is the 4 core 7700 by 4ghz better than the 6800 at 6 cores? Thanks for your opinion

No more cores is better. if your building a new system, I would suggest building an X99 biased system. you can get 6 core i7s or go all the way up to 22 core zeon.
look at the Asus x99-aII motherboard.

The old number of cores vs core speed debate. If you're someone who uses synths that consume a massive amount of cpu on a single core, then core speed has more importance, otherwise more cores all the way.
If you can do both (with good overclocking) then go for it!

UserBenchmark: Intel Core i7-6800K vs i7-7700

Check here, MC mixed is the score you want. Single core can still be important too.
