Scarlett Solo not recognized by Guitar Rig

Hey guys

I literally just joined the forum because I am really desperate. I am deeply sorry if I am breaking any rules but I am in a really bad spot here.

So yesterday I bought the Focusrite Scarlett Solo 2nd Generation audio interface with the intent of plugging my guitar in and using an amp modeling software (guitar rig 5). I installed the correct driver and connected the device via usb. This led to another driver/usb installation done by windows itself. I connected my headphones to the Scarlett and my guitar as well but I couldn't hear a sound.
After some fiddling I turned the direct monitor on, which gave me some sound. I opened Guitar Rig 5 and selected the correct ASIO Scarlett driver. This changed literally nothing as all I heard was the standard unchanged guitar sound which only worked when direct control was on. This guitar sound gets crunchier as I up the gain knob and the direct monitor volume knob, but it is unrecognized by Guitar Rig as it doesn't give me any input on the program itself.

I tried everything to get it to work, including reinstalling the drivers (I restarted the computer too) and trying some free alternative amp modeling softwares, but to no avail.

I was wondering what the problem might be in my installation process.

Thank you guys in advance
