seriously, how hard is it to find a firewire cable?

i feel like i'm on a hidden camera show with this ****! i wanted to test a new firewire interface on friday, but i didn't have a cable and didn't have time to go get one. saturday rolls around and i check a few supercenters (wal mart, k mart, etc) after work and none of them have it. sunday i check a few more specific stores like office depot, office max, staples.. none have it. today i stopped by best buy and circuit city after work.. no luck.
all they sell are 6 to 4 pin cables. why is this so difficult??

Make sure you get the right cable -- don't forget there are four pin and six pin and 'hybrids.'

One prob with buying at CompUSA is that most of their cable prices are JACKED THROUGH THE ROOF.

I've actually found cables on their shelves selling ABOVE official list.

Bestbuy usually have them.

You must have a Guitar Center or Sam Ash close, yes?

finding old-style usb cables (i.e., the kind that have the rectangular connection as on your laptop at both ends) is even more difficult anymore.

i know even RadioShack carries 6 to 6 pin ones.

unless you need it right away, ordering online usually is cheaper and you can find the exact spec/length you need.

you can even find some esoteric FW cables :

compusa's website had some for ******** cheap like $8, so i get there and all i see are belkins for $50
i ended up finding the same cable at a local computer shop for $30
if i wasn't so eager to get this thing set up i could have just ordered one online last friday and had it by now..
