Inefficient protools?

This is not a One host vs another host post. I use native (M-powered and LE) protools everyday and love it but why does it have so many special hardware requirements?

Can a tech here please explain to me why in this day and age nearly every host on the PC platform....
- runs approximately %30 more plugins than tools at the same latency
- Runs it's initial loading sequence much faster
- Doesn't require a seperate firewire drive on laptops
- can run 45+ 44k audio tracks of the one 5400 drive without sweating
- run on most windows hardware, out of the box without much tweaking

I Dunno....I'd like to cause a bit of a stir here cause I think it's justified. Protools is great....it's a fantastic app....but it just seems to me to demand a little too much from our systems. I suspect protools uses inefficient code. I want answers!!!!

hammer...
your asking a question that isnt easy to answer.
because only the developers know the source code.
and the software architecture of the product.
i got my own ideas....but i dont want mods down my back.

i once built an industrial system that only worked one way......
it was a nice way to keep the customer coming back.
think about what i just said.

the only thing i gotta say is musicians bitch n moan about this n that.
(and i'm a musician too.)..so do what i do and support the companies that are trying to change things like the ones in my sig. and others.
theres a raft of great solutions if you look.
all the best.

The problem here is You can't and Digi won't. Therefore, for now at least, It Is What It Is.

basically it's a hacked togetehr version of HD with HD functionality and options removed. This was proved when some guys were able to get the 6.9 TDM version to work with the 001.
