MIDI over USB

Hi guys,

I'm running a macbook pro for hardware sequencing duties in my studio and have invested in a secondhand AMT8 USB midi interface to give me some additional MIDI channels.

My question is around what happens to the quality/timing of the MIDI data when there are a few things on the same USB port as the MIDI interface - for example, a mouse and/or hard drive. If they are active while the midi data is also streaming, will there be any noticeable latency or timing issues in what makes it out to my hardware?

Thank you!

Nick

I wouldn't worry about it since midi only sends at 31250 bits per second, which is quite small for today's technology.
