Dumb question regarding upgrading Avid HD io 8x8x8

Hi,

I have the 8x8x8 and am wanting to get rid of the digital io card and install another 8 channels of analog io which would basically make it a 16x16.
Can I put an AD or DA card where the aes/bu card is in my 8x8x8 or do I need to sell my 8x8 and just buy a 16x16 to get 16 channels of ad and da?

thanks,
Steve

There is an expansion slot you can put anything you want in .

Either digital or analog I/O Dont need to get rid of the digital I/O card

Thanks for the reply, but I want 16 channels of analog io and if, for example, put a 8 channel da card in the blank space, I still need 8 channels of ad. I just don't know if I can pull the digital card out of it's slot and replace it with a a/d or d/a card.

thanks,
Steve
