Win 7 Box needs a new boot drive

Yesterday my Win 7 Pro desktop starts barking at me indicating the C: boot disk is starting to fail. So I've been looking at SSDs as a replacement. Crucial Tech makes them and includes disk cloning software.

Any other brands I should be looking at?

TIA

Samsung. I'm currently using an 512GB 850 EVO for a boot drive. Use Macrium Reflect Free to do your cloning.

Previously I had a 256GB Corsair Neutron, but it was starting to throw SMART errors. I still use it for virtual machines but it's not hooked up 24/7

Another happy 850 EVO user here! I personally use Acronic True Image for any cloning but I also get that through work so...

Sometimes cloning from a HDD to an SSD can be tricky due to the way data is stored, and if your drive is failing you may be copying over some bad sections. I would take the extra time to pull all your keys etc, back up your data and do a fresh install on the new drive.

Ah, good point on cloning old to new.

Thanks to both of you for the advice.
