"Brute Force Emulation" Technology

So apparently, Nebula uses brute force emulation technology as opposed to traditional techniques of sampling analog hardware.

In summary, this means test tones are routed through the original hardware and sampled/recorded as opposed to digitally recreating the hardware via the use of code.

Aside from Nebula, does anyone know of any other software plugins that use this technology?!

Appreciate any input on the subject.

Convolution tech is exactly this.... but Nebula isn't convolution. Sampling hardware through convolution was/is used through Liquid channel, Sintefex (who also did the haul work on LC actually), all convolving reverbs....

I think the difference between convolution and Nebula is that Nebula uses samples at different velocities and will therefore accurately replay, for example, a whisper versus a shout and the different nuances that come with the varied amplitude.

Convolution is a little more linear. Still sounds amazing though, and it's a trade-off with not using the crazy amount of CPU Nebula requires. That's my understanding anyway - I could be wrong.

Sintefex/Focusrite Liquid channel uses different samples - the system is dynamic convolution. Nebula uses Volterra Kernels; or at least used to.
