Musopen and Internet Archive release Pro Tools source for a wide variety of PD music

The Musopen Collection : Free Audio : Download & Streaming : Internet Archive

Interesting stuff, might be useful for my next album.

Musopen is an amazing initiative. It's a shame these project files are only available in Pro Tools format rather than something more open and accessible (I guess it's really just the stems that are most important, though), but in general the Musopen project is a really incredible one. All the final versions of these pieces that they'll soon be releasing will be a great boon for all kinds of people creating content for the internet.

they can be opened in pro-tools and resaved/exported as OMF's which than can be opened in any DAW. They probably just didn't want to go the extra step...

As an update, this project is now complete and available at the Musopen Symphony Orchestra index. Pretty awesome stuff that is now available for anyone to freely use in absolutely any capacity or medium that they desire. Same goes for any of the stems which are all likewise available (hundreds of gigabytes of individual symphonic parts? Sounds like a dream for anyone looking to get experience with orchestral mixing). Musopen has always had a fair selection of public domain (used here to mean CC0 licensed) music -- some of it even symphonic -- but this set of works performed by the Czech National Symphony Orchestra is a cut above many of the other recordings available on the site (not to take anything away from any of them).
