Register song for royalties. What about lyrics?

Hello, here's my question, we are registering the song to collect royalties, since there are 3 equal producers involved in songwriting/producing. But only two came up with lyrics, how does this should be registered accordingly?

Thanks!

If nothing else is agreed, then -

25% + 25% = 50% for lyrics

16.66% + 16.66% + 16.66% = ca 50% for the music

Thank you, that helped!

Do you need to register lyrics separately, or it gets reg'd altogether at PRS?

The lyrics are inextricably linked to the song. So no - you don't register them separately unless they are pieces of poetry!!

Even if an instrumental of the song gets used on an advert the LYRICS still get their share.

i would say if there are 3 songwriters are involved, royalties should be split evenly 3 ways. No one part of a song is more important than the other.

I think that too BUT I see unequal splits all the time when working with publishers.

If writing with others, i usually will do an equal share... regardless of who did what.
This is the best way to keep everyone happy (and in turn get more jobs) YMMV
