If you end up with a 10-bit profile after calibrating for photo work you will take a graphics perf hit in DP and other audio apps. There's a real tradeoff (8-bit vs 10-bit). For me and others it was a night and day improvement moving to an 8-bit profile.

I calibrated it with the i1Profiler, did not see any mentioning of 10 bit profile. Apple is tight-lipped about the true color depth of its displays, the hearsay is, it's 8 bit with 10bit dither. I will check it with the test 10 bit image though, never tried it since I bought it .

Even just bring able to open DP projects make it a pretty good deal for folks who don't work in DP (or don't anymore) to get projects over to current DAW, even if it's just consolidating edited tracks to be imported just as bare audio. If it can export as anything at all it might be a no brainer to get one of these just to have that ability for the cost of the unit.

Performer Lite exports
- Selected Soundbites
- Selection as MIDI File
- Selected Tracks as MusicXML
- Score as MusicXML

I get an error message - Unexpected end of file (-39),when attempting to use either of the XML export options.

Import
- Audio File
- MIDI File as Sequence

File>open work pretty well for older projects, as far back as DP4.5 here. Audio routing will need to be updated.

If the DP project uses currently versions of processing and instrument plug-ins, they are present in the PL project.

Oh man unfortunately it's looking like Winter NAMM in mid January before DP10 gets these improvements. This is so much like Garageband when it got all the pitch and time stretching features from Soundtrack Pro before Logic did.

Clips are the big one that DP10 sorely needs these updates to really make useful at all.

Yeah MC, they might be holding off so there's something to show for the free DP10 update.

Then again, we can always hope...

I look forward to your assessment, MC.

I'll be checking the "Top Three" thread regularly for it. No pressure, mate.

It really needs it's own thread. So far I'm completely sold on it. The option to house MIDI in Clips or out of Clips in the Sequence and Tracks windows is exactly the kind of implementation I was hoping for, if you want to you could always work in Clips, or not at all. I'm going to use both. The only solution that would have been more elegant would have been for you to be able to turn on and off Clip view as a universal key command, and to implement it selectively etc. The way it stands you pack, unpack or leave alone MIDI into clips or not. It's pretty cool.

That's just the first thing. we have the ability to select tracks as separate bounce items, and offline bouncing is super fast now. Cool stuff!
