Behringer Go Go Eurorack

Just saw this.

Pretty interesting. Might even tempt me to go Euroroack.

@ Mod s, I understand there is a dedicated eurorack subforum, but can we please keep this thread in the main forum for the sake of discussion? I remember moving the volca modular to the subforum basically killed the thread.

And...this thing is awesome!

Hmm, they've copied the TipTop Mantis with extra HP basically. If it's significantly cheaper tiptop isnt going
to be happy I'd wager.

about time honestly!

looks like a new competitor (almost clone?) for tiptop mantis.

i feel like 140 hp is kinda wide, but makes sense for how big their modules are hp wise.

modulargrid getting mentioned means a lot of new racks are going to be coming together

curious to see pricing on this.

aside from tiptop mantis maybe taking a hit in sales, i think this can only be a good thing for the eurorack market.

just makes me wonder what other modules they have up their sleeves...

EDIT:

"beefy" power supply specs, based on the video @ 3:00

3 zones a, b, and c.

every zone has 1 amp power (doesn't specify, but assuming +/- 12V)

for reference, tiptop mantis comes with Zeus power supply: (from sweetwater) DC4000 output capacity, three zones of [email protected] current, [email protected], and [email protected]

so yeah i think they definitely took inspiration from the mantis haha

TBH I actually forgot there's a modular forum. I'm not a modular guy, but as someone who owns a Model D and very well might purchase a Pro One this is appealing. I could see getting this and adding a couple of other pieces. I like the form factor.

I thought the mantis has 1 amp per zone. The booster gets 3?
Anyway, I don't have one...

Cheers Stevism!

It looks like their first entry into Eurorack is going to be with a suite of system 55 modules. It’d be safe to assume they’ll approach modular as they approached their other synths: cloning popular legacy modular first. Roland System 500 and Moog System 55 should be available within the year.

I believe this product will be of relevant interest to many forum users and lurkers. The eurorack subforum is a niche area general gearslutz don’t often browse. I’ve seen active threads die after getting moved there. To encourage discussion and exposure to more users I would hope we can keep it in the main forum. There is already a Behringer eurorack thread in the subforum where this is being discussed.

So with the case at 140HP per row, and the Model D being 70HP, this will perfectly fit 4x Model Ds.
Perfect housing for folks looking to build a polyphonic Model D. Doesn't leave room for utilities, but what are second cases for

worst thing about eurorack, surely the cost difference is minimal for such a big company, bad decision!

It's relevant in this forum in this case because it ties together the decisions regarding form factor that they made for their various mono/paras. They clearly had a vision.

I'm not anti this but it would be real shiddy to others to make an exception for B non? If what you're saying holds shouldnt all euro be here?

I'd bet the case if priced right will sell well. Though it's again cringey how close they have copied tiptop.
