Cases - newbie questions

I was wondering what the advantages of the doepfer vintage edition cases are.
They are about a 100 euros more than the plain ones. Do they have any other benefits besides a different look?
Maybe the coating is a bit more waterproof,
but i don't intend to take it swimming, am i?

Maybe behringer should start a range of powered cases, but even they seem to charge a bit much for an unpowered 104 hp skiff

I could build my own, but i'd rather spend the time researching and getting the parts making music.
A friend who made his own ended up frying most of his modules. Then again, he pretty much nailed his power strips into the backplate

From my understanding, the extra hundred bucks is not only that it's black, but that it has a finish at all. The non-vintage Low-Cost Cases are made of wood that has been sanded and nothing else.
