Small eurorack setup to expand Grandmother?

I’ve just bought a Moog Grandmother and it rules! I’m looking to buy a few eurorack modules to expand it. What would you recommend?

I’d recommend thinking about what you feel like is missing from the “Granny experience” and start looking in that category. Do you need another oscillator? A different flavor of filter perhaps? Modulation or logic might be good too. It’s really up to you to find a starting point, since the options are endless...

Make an account at modulargrid and explore. Watch videos for modules that catch your eye. Read Septik’s guide to modular (in moderator picks at top of modular forum).

And welcome.

Thanks dude! I’m gonna get another adsr envelope seeing at the granny really only has one. After that, I wanna look at some interesting LFOs. What would other people do to expand the granny?

You're on a slippery slope!!! This is how I got trapped. Started with a Mother 32, and two years and loads of modules (and money!!!) later, here I am.

I personally expanded with a uVCA II by Intellijel, a System-X Envelope, Make Noise Maths, a Doepfer Wasp Filter, and additional VCOs.

You can't really go wrong.

There is no such thing as a small eurorack setup.

Very nice.

I see we both have a fondness for AJH:

Mine is growing- I just ordered a bunch of modules and another LC case.

I love AJH. The oscillators are utterly beastly. They just sound wonderful to me.

However, what I'm really finding to be a hidden gem is the noise/glide.

The noise is great at random modulation for filters, oscillators, and especially with drum modules.

Had my GM nearly a week, just hooked it up to Maths, using ch4 of Maths on the filter, ch1 on the VCA, very nice
