Based on what I have heard in the Moog forum about many people wanting some sort of breakout box for CV for the Sub 37 .... it seems that this product would be one possible solution from Moog. It almost sounds like the synth/sequencer functions are more of a secondary feature ... again to enhance synths like the Sub 37 .... moreso than as a standalone synth. And also a gateway drug into modular for those without such systems. Might end up being a clever strategy. Would wonder though if Moog would have further plans to delve into the land of eurorack modules.

Mother 32..

Sounds like a perfect name for a 32 step analog sequencer.

Than again.. perfect doesn't exist.

Moog names a new synth, so now you can get your Mother to sit on your Little Phatty. Way to think it through, Moog. NAMM 2016 Moog is intending to release a synth called Mommys Milk Phat Baby Butt.

I have seen you belt complex designs on scratch paper like it was nothing.

But seriously, they will likely release photos before too long and I think you painted a pretty good mental picture. So to satiate the masses, I offer this mildly humorous drawing of a cat playing a fake moog:

I have a feeling this will sell.

Either to people who are only just starting a modular system to have this at the core or anyone who just wants the sound in their’s, so why only one oscillator because the name suggests it will be the start of more moog eurorack so it could be a good investment?

A very fake Moog. You really shouldn't have used an SH-09 as a model.

And that cat hasn't got a clue: it's connected the headphone output to the gate input!

I think you've failed to see the true genius. That cat is using headphones as a purr detector microphone and modulating free hand (paw?). I bet he gets mad pussy.

Can I use it to sequence my little phatty II or will I need another box with cv outs?

From what has been described so far you should be able to do that.

I have nearly a whole row in my modular case, I'm curious about this now as my system does not have a sequencer as such, just has an arp and a couple of envelopes and LFO etc...adding another voice and the ability to sequence might be just what I need, will have to wait for the oz dollar to go up though, perhaps our new prime minister can help in that regard...?

Seems like a sort of successor to the Werkstatt thing....perhaps they were testing the market with that...
Now a complete voice + sequencer will satisfy the tabletop tweakers & go along well with SEMs, dark energy type synths & elektron type + fit in well into a modular rig

Everybody's done vco, vcf, vca, env, lfo. There's no new sounds there!

I'm starting to think that as well, I tweak my monos and basslines endlessly all day when I have time to and there really isn't much interesting timbres left that we haven't all heard, it's newish sounds only in layering now or combi multi effects or forms of compression abuse etc...most of those can be every hit and miss though and seriously I find nothing more boring than trying to find a few sounds to layer that are interesting, it's like driving down a dirt road in the night with lights off..

Anyway, stoked for this thing from what we know so far. $599 for a semi-modular Moog Euroack. Sounds great to me. I was very interested in the Kilpatrick Phenol as an all-in-one modular starter device. This looks like another fantastic option along those lines. Can't wait to see more.
