Mp3 track numbers.

I have just finish mastering two live cds 70min each.

Each cd has one full length file and several track numbers with no pause at all.
The file is playing continuously but the tracks are changing on each song.

The client is asking for an Mp 3 version.

My problem is that I can't make a continuously file in each cd with track numbers.

Can this be done?
Thank you

ps: I am on mac using Tiger.

Hello Yiannis,

as you somehow have managed to set start ID's on your CD, the final CD will be automatically split up into the separate tracks bordered by those start ID's.
In this case the easiest way to get the mp3 version i think is to drop the master CD into Itunes or another CD ripping program (check out "Max") and convert it to Hi-Resolution mp3s.

My problem is that there is always a gap between the tracks in the Mp3 version.

is it in the file or does the player make the pause?!?
i know from itunes that you cannot play a crossfaded or otherwise uninterrupted program without those little gaps. :-(

It appears in the file after the mp 3 convertion.
Here is what I ve done.

I took the master file and did some cuts at the track positions.
Then I exported the tracks as mp 3 files.
Burn it as a playlist from iTunes.
Not good.

Burn it in Toast...

gaps are still there.

Isn't the problem the codec? If I remember correctly, mp3 does not support gapless play back.

You need a proper encoder (LAME) + proper decoding application (foobar2000 for example). Then you'll not getting any gaps.

REAPER for example also supports this (via LAME DLL). REAPER | Audio Production Without Limits

very simple..

make a physical cd (you know a cd you can play in a car or boombox) of each live show.

now import that cd into itunes, before you import it you have to label each track title and add a number before each song 01,02, 03 ... import it as mp3..

i tunes only see start marks, it will split the cd at the correct pq points..

now send those mp3s to the person and tell them if they make a cd from those mp'3 turn default spacing on their burning program to zero or none.

the files will line up with each other perfect and in order since you have them numbered

thats about it

You can't get gapless playback of mp3s on most players.

The only thing you can do is to put all songs in one long file.
