FYI WL6 and 7 both have 'unlimited' amount of slots available. WL5 had this
limitation (one of the reasons why I didn't use it). I'm not sure about the external effects but I think you can use as many of them as you have IO for.
You even can use rudimentary plugin automation in montage mode if you would like to use this.

Nope, only one instance of the ASIO plugin is allowed in WL6 (manual, p 10-252).

r,
j,
I stand corrected. I'm used with Cubase to run several external FX. If I have some time I will inquire about it.

I've just had a little look at the beta being shown at Frankfurt Music Messe!

Looks pretty good running on a mac pro with snow leopard!
They're talking the fall of this year for a release candidate.

r,

Same goes for WL7 they said.
They might consider it when demand is high.

However, workflow wise I find it best to do the fades in Wavelab and dither there.

Hi bManic

Yup, using both Reaper, Logic & Cubase now for hw integration. thumbsup

And Wavelab when it is all in the box.

for mac platform is really sweet news.

The video was a little ripp-off between a mac commercial and a pride parade.

Any idea on price?

I doubt Steinberg would stray from their normal Wavelab pricing.

BTW nice avatar. That is a Thomas Mangelsen photo we have in our art gallery. (The radio station I work at shares space with a fine art photo gallery)

i await this new version with great interest. i have been using wavelab since version 2. i find it to be one of the best pieces of software i have ever used. the montage function is marvelous. i has impressed many a client with its ability to cross-fade and do volume envelopes right on the spot. cd rendering from the montage is great.

i am curious to know the upgrade $ from 6 to this the newest.

best,

cause the price for WL7 is way under the price of the Sonnox suite...
can anybody clear this up??

if you compare screenshots it appears to be a crippled version of sonnox restore, feature wise.

Yeah -- while I can understand that multiple slots could mean multiple ADDA (which you should obviously avoid if you can help it when mastering), there's surely no reason why you shouldn't be able to insert digital devices (such as Weiss etc.) somewhere else in the chain.

That's exactly the benefit of Reaper. I sometimes use the Sintefex FX8000 hooked up through it's ADAT i/o and can treat it inside Reaper as just another plugin.. all 6 channels of it! Easy to move it anywhere within the chain and splitting it up into 3 separate stereo channels. Heck, I've even used it in a multiband configuration. :D

Cheers!

Yep!
There will probably be an upgrade at a reduced price but I'll probably buy it anyway and keep WL6 for the audiocube as I'm pretty happy with the way it's running right now!
