Go into your suite, twiddle the knobs, listen, twiddle some more.
Edit and sequence. Burn a couple of refs.
Give the work order and the discs to the studio manager, wait for a check with your cut.
My idea of heaven.

It ain't always like heaven, but it's pretty damn close.

Nicely put Joe!

That's the way it works around here too.

Just do your job, focus on audio quality, client satisfaction, and enjoy life.

Not a lot of obsession on stuff that doesn't matter.

Don't waste much time on the forums.

Except I'm the one writin' the checks, and somehow I don't get a cut!

Cheers - JT

.
It's a 3D rendering of the space.

I like the look of TJ's place. Looks very cool, even though :

The room looks kind of long on the pic. But that is probably an optical illusion.

Console seems to stand inbetween the ME and the middle speaker?

Ah, to be so young and so naive.
The people you refer to (Kosa Minore Creative) who, according to the website,
are responsible for the design, don't do this kind of thing in their spare time.
Personally, it makes me a little dizzy. The cartoonish nature of the renderings of the mastering suites is a little, cartoonish. I prefer good old fashioned photographs.
But it's Sterling Sound and as Tom Coyne said on Sterling's old site under his equipment list "Everything Ted has, but mine are bigger and shinier"
Is that the Waves Lin MB I see up on one of Teds monitors? (kidding)

You can find a better (real) pic here, incidentally also Phil D's, Carl S's and a few others. (I've been looking into some side racks.. gotta make space now with the Vertigo VSC-2 added - we're loving it. thumbsup )

That's a dated picture now from a few perspectives. I bought the DAW monitor stand and moved all the computer stuff to the side.
Sounds a bit better as I use floor-stand speakers now but mostly because I feel better about not looking at a screen all day.

Vertigo? Tony has got a case of the "spends"

I wonder if that room's pic is an older one, because, notice the racks and the computer monitors are different...

Great link, that!

Now I just have to decide which of those pictures I should steal for my site. Hmmm.

Does that image not deserve crediting from whence it came?
Alternatively, if used with permission (always decent to include that, too) have they for some reason requested non-disclosure?

Hi Phil. Fair enough & totally understand that latter point you make (this is re your pic).

Ha! off topic but no, after having it on loan, putting it through its paces on the full gamut of projects (the Pheonix never floated our boat where other existing options excelled), then being told it was sold, and so boxed it to return, then getting a better deal on it, we were able to just hold onto it. In my honest opinion its only weak point perhaps is the side chain being 60 & 90 rather than say 60 & 120Hz, but it's clean, flexible and just sounds like compression - no more, no less - when you need it. Running gain at unity I'm not hearing the "sweetness" others have suggested.

Hi Adam! The fact that I was able or allowed the inclusion of such picture, was a personal accomplishment and it also demonstrated the trust others have placed in me. We decided that putting the name of the studio would be a bad idea and it would create grounds for more spam and business promotion. Otherwise, it is a prescription for disaster. Think about it, you could come to WP to delete it, put Jack The Bear's mastering studio picture with your name on it only to have another mastering studio to do exactly the same thing the next day.

I just realized by looking at some of those photos that I just wasted hundreds of thousands of dollars on my room!

yep (shhh).

Jim (the owner of Sterling Mod) also did the room design. He has also done work for Sony and other studios in NY and the Philly area. A great guy.
