In thinking a bit more about this, since labels haven't been as successful at redistributing old content on a different form of media as they were in vinyl/tape to CD days (e.g. DVD-A) maybe there a whole new source of income in remastering old material with dynamic range intact.

Labels should be behind this and it could be a whole new source of income for some MEs too.

Yes, I agree! I think that you could definitely market this to audiophiles, especially using the DVD format for optimum sound. I mean everyone has a dvd player these days...

That's great.
But till a day always some kind of search portal comes in instead of the real turnmeup site. What is that?

Off topic a bit I know, but I just couldn't stop myself from registering www.loudnesswars.com for an amusing email address - was amazed to see the domain name still available...

Is it just me? When I try to reach www.turmeup.org some kind of searchportal comes in. What is that?

Try Turn Me Up! | Bringing Dynamics Back To Music - the 'n' in 'turn' is pretty essential...

Here's a new site dedicated to making all records louder and more distorted than Snow Patrol. www.tearmeup.ugh

I'd be interested to know how many mastering facilities accepted the invitaiton, not only to sign up in support, but to sign up to be `TMU Certified'.

I have no bones with the general direction of this org (though these days, in this neck of the woods, there seems to be a natural return to less loud anyway) but this bit always struck me as slightly odd - certification is either a quasi-legal qualification, or a piece of paper to hang in the loo, or a title to impress your mum and your bank manager: this is none of the above, so what is it for?

Cheers,

Eric

In the 'Loudness Wars' video, I actually liked the compressed version of the song. I honestly think it's a generational thing, I have been listening to compressed/limited music my whole life.

I tried signing up to these guys and in the first instance they didn't respond, when i chased it they sent me the most cryptic BS email i've had the misfortune of reading.

Either they want us in or out, i don't give a crap either way i just thought i'd show my support for the cause.

Can this address digital-only releases (ie, could a deal be worked with, say, CDBaby or iTunes to provide indication that tracks are turnmeup "compliant", say?). Maybe a dumb question

Hey!

How come there is not a compressor or clipper option for this web site?
