2192 in my mixing (not mastering) setup

Recently I was able to demo a UA 2192 and was most impressed with what it did to my mixes.

I mix almost exclusively ITB with plugins but was running my stereo mix out the 2192 into a neve Portico 5043. My music is insturmental hip hop and the 2192 gave my mixes a real nice flavour. A nice boost in the lows and nice harmonics everywhere else.

My question is this. Is this a fuitless excercise when I am only going to end up taking my mixes for mastering anyway? Is the 2192 a little excessive and would that chain get in the way with regards to the eventual mastering?

From my experience this sound will be achieved to some extent in mastering. Or is it worthwhile to take in my mixes with a sound that I feel is closer to the final product of how I want it to sound?

I hope I was able to articulate what I needed to.

In my opinion, you should take your mixes to the mastering place exactly or as close as possible to how you want them to sound.
So, I would certainly say if you notice a decent improvement, YES, go for it.
