Mastering for Elektra

I've been asked to re-master a best of collection for Elektra, (Atlantic) records. I just finished mastering the first song and would like to provide a before and after comparison for you to listen to. Please let me know what you think. I would like to get some feedback before I send it off to some of the label heads. I'm personally very happy with it...

Thanks for checking it out mastermix. I wanted to have it sound contemporary yet remain true to the great sounding (In a lot of ways at least) original recording. I think I'm going to go ahead and send it. Any other thoughts from from us audio geeks?

not to be a downer, but im pretty sure elektra and the cure dont like mp3s of their songs floating freely on the net. at the risk of losing the gig, i'd play more safe then sorry.

Believe it or not I got permission to post this. I would have never posted this otherwise. The record companies seem to be coming around and are more worried about the promotional aspects of the web than otherwise.

The people I talked to said that it was alright as long as it was just posted on GS and the website being used to host for no more than a couple of days. In other words it will be down by late tomorrow...

Good job.

A pleasing low end at last, while not overdone. Tasteful.

Best,

Sounded like you improved it, without doing anything detrimental, at least on
my my little comp. speakers at home. Just out of curiosity, what did they give
you to work from? What I mean is, did the label supply you with the original
two mix, before it was mastered originally?

Thanks to all who checked both of the files out. I sent it and so far I've gotten VERY positive feedback, so it's a green light. Both of the files have been deleted from the host website. Sorry if you missed out.

I honestly was hoping to get a little more details and comments from the community here but it's all good. I take this project very seriously and partly got the gig, (I think) because I've been a rabid fan for over two decades so I think they know how important it is to people like me. Also look for my solo album in the upcoming year. I won't be posting on here as much anymore, (I'll be very busy)...

Thanks again and cheers!
