Opinions on using EQ Match or other similar tools in the mastering process

I typically use my ears and reference masters to guide my masters toward a balance that sounds appealing to me, but recently have been looking at a variety of tools that do some variation of tonal balance or eq matching using eq curves or compression. Examples of plugins with these features include ProQ3, Ozone 8 Tonal Balance, DSM V2.

In my research online it seems that most people discourage actually using these tools as the results may be too songs specific to make sense or too heavy handed.

Are any of you using these tools in the process? How are you using them? Do you find them to be valuable?
