LUFS

Does anybody know of a plugin that will quickly analyze the LUFS of a .wav file without playing it? I know Izotope RX Loudness Control does it but are there any others that are cheaper?

Thanks but that's pricier than RX. I should have stated that I wasn't looking to break the bank.

Have you tried TT Dynamic Range Meter or Orban Loudness Meter?

http://www.dynamicrange.de/sites/def...ter%201_4a.zip (Win)
http://dr.loudness-war.info/download...er-for-MAC.zip (Mac)
METER — Orban (Win/Mac)

Both are free, work offline and might be worth a look.

Cheers.

It's not exactly an LUFS meter, per say (or maybe it is), but this is a nice, free, tool for calculating loudness penalties:

If you are on a Mac you'll need to download the Orban. Its free which is nice. What would make the app much better would be if it plotted resulting analysis along a timeline and better yet, let you play the audio files out of the app. But, for free its pretty darn helpful.

You might want to check : https://www.xivero.com/musicscope/
I sometimes use this as a standalone app when quickly checking files sent my way, since the DAW plug-in I like a lot only plays in real time. Musicscope seems to allow connectivity to a DAW for use as a plug-in, but I've never tried to do so and have no idea whether it allows fast analysis.

The HOFA 4U Meter is a free plugin. Drag and drop an audio file onto the UI and it will spit out the offline calculations.

Hi, if you do have Pro Toos there is an avid audio suite plugin called "Pro Limiter Loudness analyzer" that does it. That's the one I use everyday. If you're under Pro Tools subscription its included (free).

Pretty sure the pro tools plug mentioned doesn’t show LKFS which is still spec’d for some video clients.

Does this really analyze the LUFS of a .wav file without playing it, as you requested?

Not a plugin, but Foobar2000 on a PC will do it (let me know if you need instructions on how to set it up), and is free.

It does LKFS, not LUFS, and yes, it does it without playing the entire song. It analyzes it which takes 30sec-2mins depending on the length of the file.

Maybe your daw can do this? I know Reaper does this as a built in feature.

If you have a mac, Myriad is a handy batch audio processor which will tell you a lot of informative numbers, including LUFS, for any given audio file without playing it. It will also normalize the file to a desired LUFS, if you want that as well.

Not a plugin, and does cost money, but also is very useful besides what you are looking for. Just food for thought.

I use r128x
GitHub - audionuma/r128x: a tool for loudness measures on Mac OS X

Drag and drop multiple files to the program and a simple text readout of the LUFS is available in a second or two.
