The Final Hour

Hi everyone,

I have been talking with my girlfriend about her roommates who are going through a very turbulent point in their marriage. They are on the dawn of separation; an impending doom. I don't write much about love, but this came to me yesterday as I was thinking of their situation. This is a husband/wife who have been together since high school, and the husband is on the receiving end of this troublesome realization that his wife is not happy any longer. He struggles to connect emotionally to himself and his wife, so I felt like he deserved to have a voice in the matter. This is what I think he'd say if he could:

The Final Hour

(Prologue)
Don't second guess my heart,
Cause I'll be waiting til the final hour.
And each day that we're apart,
Will bring me closer to the start.

(Verse)
I remember when you needed someone,
And how I wished it was me.
So you whispered of your dreams,
As if - they'd never be.
Typical of you to throw it out to sea,
I've never sailed a strong ship.
Now I see that you're settin' me free -
Like salt, between your fingertips.

(Chorus)
Don't doubt my heart,
Cause I'll be waitin' til the final hour.
And each day that we're apart,
Brings me closer to the start.

(Verse)
I guess love isn't rubies and gold,
And lightning never strikes twice.
But underneath these tarnished diamonds,
My heart lays on ice.
Here comes the ultimate sacrifice -
Will it be heads or tails?
See, you and me, we've always played nice,
So let me raise my sails.

(Chorus)
Don't doubt my heart,
Cause I'll be waitin' til the final hour.
And each day that we're apart,
Brings me closer to the start.

(Bridge)
You've never seen your face
like I have -
Only reflections and photographs.
But each time I reach out my hand -
Just to touch you,
I never touch you.

(Chorus)
So don't doubt my heart,
Cause I'll be waitin' til the final hour.
And each day that we're apart,
Will bring me closer to the start.

Honestly, that's a doom that they brought upon themselves. They should see it as a chance to be free of each other.

That's probably when they should just divorce.

That's when they start drinking and become alcoholics. Why should he worry if she is "happy" or not? That's all dependent upon her. He can't control that.

Only Jesus is in control.

P.S. If she is crazy, then make the song about her.
