good, relatively cheap outboard gear for tracking?

hello, friends. I'm attempting to start using outboard gear during the tracking phase and then mixing in the box. my question is, if you could have 5 processors at or around $200 apiece, what would you suggest? what reasonably priced rack gear have you all had good luck with? I love weird old pieces with a lot of character, but am not picky as long as it sounds good.any advice is appreciated in advance!
