ok - folks - so far as always jules is kicking your asses around like a tin can on the curb...

as for the ideas, this is great - keep this **** coming, and alpha - the naked chick w/ the U99 would be better than banging the chick you wanted to bang back in highschool when you weren't quite good ( my afternoon tonight!)

anyways - so far this is MUCH TALK and NOT SO MANY PICTURES!

1) Dave Martin - get with the times and get that **** posted man

2) Fletcher and Mixerman - you guys have **** at home and gear collections, come on now ozzy, show us your naughty bits

3) bob ohlson - don't need to say anything, picture please

4) alpha - this means you too

5) everyone, don't be afaid to post - the winner is being chosen on SOOO many levels other than gear (and unfortunatly Jules cannot qualify because he is a moderator here, and his **** aint no studio, it's a fricken library)

updated rules and prizes below: ---------->

New Main Rules to the World's Coolest basement studio

1) No gearslutz moderators can win, that's just fair without explaing why.

2) maximum of 3 pictures of your studio

3) all entries posted before October 1st

4) this is judget on overall room, excessive pictures of gear racks up close will hurt you

5) no, lava lamps can't hurt - poor use of them can burn you (pun intended)

6) more computer monitors the better

7) artist accomodations within reach are mega plusses

8) ease of patchablity is a plus

9 ) amout of stuff you can do WITHOUT a mouse or monitor are plusses, yet so are things youc an ONLY accomplish w/ a mouse and monitor

10) the basement studio name - My newborn production co is titled Self-Dubbed Productions, and the studio is being called by some "self dub's sonic playroom" - which I dig and will add to my signature to see how it looks before we press shirts for shows..

11) be creative, and only do things that are permanet and will improve your sound and business

12) dont be a dumb ass and show drugs and get yourself in trouble

---------PRIZES----------

new prizes are next post...

ok - after a day of ideas - here are the current prizes (with more to come)

Please keep in mind the prizes are not really expensive, yet really cool usefull things

ok, the prizes as of 9-12-02 are:

1) 12 drinks at any bar or liqour store curtousy of Self-Dubbed...

2) One pair of radio-shack waterproof ultra-reference 1" speakers, plug these into your iPod and you just can't make it non harsh, yet trying might get you somewhere...

3) One copy of September's playboy - the PMOY is only 20, and she's been doin than milk does a body good thing for some time now. It's good to clear your mind (and loaded gun) - with a good mag between mixes, easily get into hip-hop mode by looking for some big j-lo asses, and there comes your phat bottom

4) One free t-shirt, as GS shirt as well as a shirt of my studio and production co

5) Two mixes of your work done by me for ****s and giggles - you are allowed to decline this prize, yet you get no store credit for it

that's all I have so far, I think it's a reasonably cool list - what do you guys think?

Thanks Jay!

It was very dumb of me to put up such large pic files, call it late night gear madness! - Thanks very much for shrinking them for me Jay, very kind!

I must have pulled out gallons of water with a dehumidifier during the first 3/ 4 months. Now the gear is on and the studio populated - damp is no longer an issue (fingers crossed)

Anyone else sucking water out of their bacement?

I had a daily ritual of emptying out the water collected overnight (I would set the dehumidifier running overnight)

Overnight dehumidifacation rocks!

what the hell is with a lava lamp in every studio?
I want to advertise that we are PROUD to be the only studio in the world WITHOUT a lava lamp.

My control room is not in a basement, but my shop was for 25 years. We since moved to larger digs to fit the two mobile units and stuff.

Been trying to find some cool shots of the recording truck....
Not the best vantage point for gear viewing but, here's a shot of my friend and associate, Jon D'Uva in our straight truck...

Send my regards to Jon D'Uva please Steve!

I enjoyed hanging with you and him last year..

Plus he's got one of the best 'night people' looks I've seen!

You can tell he's a studio cat 24-7!

back after tracking a full length album in 2 days, with killer results....

best band-mixed album ive done, all I really need to do is put the faders where they need be (pictures of the session to come)

come on - I want to see more rooms, I feel like adding in a tin of chocolate covered expresso beans to the prize, since those things got me thru bringing my whole setup to a room satuday night, and loading back into my place with a full lenght album fully tracked monday night - man how great players can make you love this ****....

sucks that I re-assemble my studio tomorrow, and then load it all out again on friday to record another full lenght in 4-5 days...

the big dillema is wether to just mix it on my own in my room - or take up an offer to use a Neve VR for 2 days...

I want more pictures!
