I am looking for a new audiointerface to my Macbook.
Until now the Motu Traveler has been on the top of my buying-list (sorry, fireface 800 is to expensive).
But today I saw the Mackie 1620 w/firewire quite cheap!
Anyone used this as audiointerface?
With this I have the 8 built in mackie preamps, and some external preamps (GR ME-1NV...) that I can plug in the "line-in".
In addition to be a audio interface, it also would be a nice live-mixer.
So what do you guys think, go for a "normal" audinterface like Motu Traveler, of a Mackie 1620 w/firewire?
It has some shortcommings but if you are going to put the analog mixer to use, then it is definitely a good go. The pres are alright for the price and it is convenient having a firewire interface built right into your mixer. If you can get it for a good price, then go for it.
