LFO Troubles

Hello, Im currently using Pro tools 8 on my project, using a signal generator on an aux track followed by Expander/gate. My kick is sent to the gate using the key in.

My problem is that I can never seem to get a clean good sounding low end to my kick. Maybe not that it sounds bad, just too one dimensional. I've spent countless hours messing with attack, release, hold etc with no real progress on the sound I want. I've used multiple different LFO's on separate tracks sent to different kicks, Ive used multiple different LFOs on a single track which just ended up terrible.

Its hard to describe the sound I want, all I can really say is that the one LFO alone just doesnt sound right. Anyway, if anyone has any ideas or input on what they do for this would be great.
