M-Audio DMP3? any better than Octane?

I currently own an M-Audio Ultra 8R Interface which has pre-amps based on their "Octane" Pre's.

I have a chance to pick up an M-Audio DMP3 for free basically, but I'm wondering if it's even worth it?
Are the pre's in the DMP3 any better than what I already have in the Ultra 8R?

Any other use for the DMP3, I know Free is FREE, but if it isn't going to be any use, it's just another piece of gear getting in the way!

Thanks

Do a search on the forums for the DMP3. There are many fans of these clean preamps and threads are littered all over the place discussing the merits of this little guy.

Get it, try it, if you don't like it I'll buy for $25...

I love my DMP3. Clean, quiet, simple. Oh, and cheap. There's something about a mains-powered pre that interface pres don't have. Could just be me.
