Problem with Presonus Digimax D8

(I previously posted this in the "So Much Gear, So Little Time" section, but someone moved it to the music computers section, why??)

Hey slutz,

I have recently put together a small recording setup including:2010 15" i5 2.4GHz Macbook Pro, Pro Tools 9, Focusrite Saffire Pro 24 DSP, Presonus Digimax D8 (to run into the pro 24 via adat). Both units are synced together, The Digimax is running as the master sync and the Pro 24 is receiving sync via adat.

The Pro 24 was bought brand new, and the Digimax was bought second hand.

The problem I'm having is the Digimax is making a high pitched hum/buzz through both my headphones/monitors, into Pro Tools when i record with it, and strangely I can also hear the noise physically coming from it when my headphones are off and my monitors are switched off.

The noise changes pitch slightly when i turn it's phantom power on and off, and it also changes when I change the sync sample rate from 44.1 to 48 on the digimax it's self. It even makes the noise with nothing plugged into it except for power.

A friend suggested the the power supply might be fried. I honestly have no idea what the issue is.

Has anyone ever experienced such a thing before?

Does anyone know of somewhere in Melbourne/Australia where I could get the Digimax serviced/repaired??

Thanks in advanced, Jackson.

Surely someone can point me to a repair place in Melbourne?

Me Too

I just bought a used digimaxD8 and am having the same issue.

You are the only other case I can find on the net.

My unit operates perfectly other than the hum coming directly from the unit that doesn't effect the signal and it happens even when there is only power plugged in.

hoping to fix it as its annoying!
