Focusrite's Saffires use CIRRUS CS4272 AD/DA converters...i emailed them and got this answer a few months ago...have a great day..

Is that a high grade converter or middle of the road ?

they are good and are/were used in some Echo Audiofire interfaces...i think what makes better audio interfaces sound better are the other components used along side the converters, my Saffire sounds much bettter to my ears than an older m-audio 1010lt audio card i owned....

I meant saffire pro 14 but its the same chip right ?
