thanks y'all!
i had this mic kickin around, with a sagging ribbon for over a year, and was finally motivated to fix it. i saw a pic of the fancy machine that someone here made custom for this purpose, and decided to try it myself. the ribbon is so thin, that even just handling it flattened out the corrugations. i carefully put the ribbon through the 2 gears, and re crimped it! the folds are not as tight as the fancy machine, but it worked just fine, and sounds fine too.
these legos are all mine. more than 1 way to geek, you know...

I grew up on Legos and would probably still have them if not for handing them down to my little cousin
