Good mic stands (CHEAP!)

Anyone know a good source for good mic stands with a decent enough base to hold some heavy stuff and not tipping over, but yet cheap.

I'm trying to mount Reflection filter and a mic on it, and I don't want it to crack like my last mic stand...

It was a tripod by the way.

Already checked Sweetwater.com and Musicians Friend.com ...too expensive

I use any decent, solidly build mic stands in my studio, but for really heavy stuff I asked my wife to make me a couple of sandbags to put on the base to keep it from tipping over. Works great!

"Cheap" is relative.

I've had one of these stands for about 5 years now: On-Stage | SB96+ Rolling Studio Boom Stand | SB96+ | B&H Photo

It is fairly durable and can hold some pretty heavy stuff. It's not perfect, but for $80 it won't be. If you don't need the height, the second extension is the weakest part so just use the bottom half of the boom (don't extend the top half) and it's probably about as strong as any expensive stand.

This one I've used and it might be a tad better but also 50% more: http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/produc...nd_45_76_.html

These have served me well for years.

Not sure what budget you are working with.
Maybe let everyone know what your definition of
cheap is for these, or what you are looking to spend.

Find a used old round base stand (preferably Atlas) and put a 10-pound barbell weight on it. Round-base stands and old barbells are cheap. THis combo is virtually impossible to tip over.
