Wink Please RATE this ACOUSTIC capture

hi guys....

i am back with a fresh sample of my acoustic guitar capture.

mic used : AKG4000
placement : between hole and 12th fret (at neck-body edge joint)

no Q no compression..just a lil maximize !

basic non-solid top acoustic guitar ...old strings

Need some comments on this capture if you please.
Also...iam looking for another mic to pair with the AKG so please recon some specific models. I'l accept if you suggest that the AKG is enuf heh

cheerz

I like the recording. It is live and Smooth.
Did you pan it 100% LR? if yes, try to use 70R - 780L.
your guitar sounds great :-D

And sure that AKG is enuf !!

actually...this is a tip ive encountered at many places...for various guitar types. I will experiment

the AKG 4000 does wonders with vocals too.

The spread of frequencies doesn't sound even enough (to my ears / for my tastes at least)

The high notes really ping nicely - perhaps too nicely - whereas the bass notes don't carry the same drama

quite agree..
and i wonder if that is cos the guitar is not solid top

things can be done to even this out...plugin processing... using two mics (bridge and fret)...

thanks for the note on THIS capture thumbsup
gud to know the mid-hi sounds nice...just what a MIX needs

Sounds lovely to my ears - especially with the ADT.

Could probably do with a little bass boost if used solo, but will sit in a mix nicely as-is I would have thought.

Nice playing too!

Sounds great to me. Great playing to wish it went on longer haha.

I'm just starting to get into recording stuff in this sense. (or any sense)

That mic sounds awesome what DAW did you record this in and was the environment that you recorded in sound treated at all? (would this make much a difference)

I'm currently attempting to record my acoustic in Logic 8 express with an Audio Technica AT2021 with some success. It doesn't sound anything as alive and colorful as this though. (could be my playing )

second sample

GUYS

thanks for the comments

iam adding a slightly extended capture...lightly mixed with some driven electric ! enjoy and comment

acoustic captured with my AKG4000...in the control room which is average treated... the fact again is that you need to know/have the capture technique...any decent condenser mic has this ability... just give it a good environment...good fingers fuuck...to play i mean heh ...and decent preamp and interface.

daw depends on your preferred workflow...i am able to use any daw provided i have my selected studio plugins
trust me...daw doesnt make much difference...hardware does...mixing does !

The curve is longer than one thinks...keep learning !
its all in the mix...and EARS

WITH THAT SAID...THIS CAPTURE OF MINE IS NOT EVEN CLOSE TO WHAT MY EARS HEAR BUT ITS HEAVENLY BETTER FROM THE TIME I STARTED LEARNING !

That mic sounds awesome what DAW did you record this in used NUENDO..mic AKG4000and was the environment that you recorded in sound treated at all? (would this make much a difference) a quieter environment will let you record at higher gain...
an absorbent place will make sure you capture the genuine sound

I'm currently attempting to record my acoustic in Logic 8 express with an Audio Technica AT2021 with some success. It doesn't sound anything as alive and colorful as this though. mic can be kept closer....but playing dynamics effect(could be my playing )
other considerations...
guitar type...strings (quality/age)
train your ears to know your MIC tone and GUITAR tone...so you can work out getting your desired sound by processing !!

gud luck !
post some stuff yeah
