I should have specified. I was talking about the distorted tom tom hits. Looking at the wave, there are 4 or 5 tom hits that sound and look distorted... maybe the rim of the drum hit the mic or something. Who knows.

For the type of music you're doing, i recommend using the settings in the attached picture below, then you can adjust the RELEASE and INPUT GAIN to your liking.

Don't forget to use dithering if your pre-mastered file is 24 bit.

Good luck.

You're welcome.
Yeah, Voxengo really hit a home run with the Elephant. It's so ridiculously good, i think it should be twice its current price( not complaining at all !).

this isn't a limiter issue, its just a mix issue.

keep A/Bing your mixes with commercial stuff, you'll get there.

the drums to me are lacking the most. are you LPing your git?

Try putting an EQ before the limiter to gently filter out some of those problem areas, usually bass/low-mids.

Yep, it must be the mix (well, 99% sure anyway) Remember, its not all about smashing it with a limiter, steal dbs where you can. You need an appropriate tonal balance before you can even start.

I'd say 7 or 8 times if we're going by the waves *diamond' standard

The mix just seems a bit top heavy with no bass

and the snares are really poppy. it just seems to lack "body" in the mix to me.

its lacking the high end of the one you showed us previously. but, the drums are a little stronger in this one...

of the two, i'd probably go with the last one.

are you just looking for which one has less distortion?

thanks for the help, just trying to get it balanced....i tried moving the bass and kick up, but i like it better in lower frequency...

first time i had the kick boosted at 75 hz, and the bass at 60hz, with a slight dip where the kick is in the bass, to glue them together...

the problem is definatley in the mix, I think you maybe should check your monitoring set up against over sources before even attempting to master.
