the apogee one...

anyone else heard of this thing?

Got to play with it today, its not released yet. but its a single input usb interface with a built in microphone, with the same Pre and conversion as the duet...at about half the price. i was told they were released today, but i cant find anything about them on the webz.

anyways, check em out. same style as duet, but black and really small.

Wouldn't they call it apogee solo? This sounds like a prank. There is nothing on their website.

If Apple and PC USB specs are different (like FW is), not likely, they quit supporting windows.

Yeah well Apple is slowly quitting to support apogee too! Look at their new Laptop... Sheesh.

Dang, I would have called it solo. So you can feed a preamp into? Or do you have to use the built in mic?

Hijack

@Chris, where did you get your Apogee UV22 converter plugin? As you are using PC this seems like one of the only products of Apogee's that runs directly on PC? Also what OS are you using? Thanks.
Sorry for the quick hijack everyone!

Apparently it comes with a breakout cable with an XLR in for mic and a 1/4" line in...so should be able to.

If you check the website you'll see

Single channel input using one of the following three options:

-Internal omnidirectional condenser microphone
-Balanced XLR microphone preamp input with +10 to 63 dB of gain
-Unbalanced 1/4” high impedance instrument input, 0 to 45 dB of gain

Software selectable 48V phantom power
Line-level, 1/8” stereo output for headphones or unbalanced powered monitors

Obviously this is an entry level or on-the-road product. So no line level input. No external preamps. No balanced outputs. No bells and whistles.

But hey, for on-the-road when you need a single channel this should be brilliant. The Ozomatli video is nice -- hard to believe those nice sounds are coming out of that little box I think this shakes up the game as far as price-performance -- I think you'd be hard-pressed to beat it for $249.

"So no line level input. No external preamps."

If it's like the Duet, you can select line level via the software for the XLR input. Thus you would have the ability to run an external mic pre balanced if desired.

i think for what it is, this will be a top seller at my store for small mobile recorders, or the guy who wants to record his guitar, and his voice, at different times.

im thinking about picking one up.

word on the price is $200-250 range.

Probably Chinese. And probably no better than anything else in that price range.

same converters as the duet.

im not saying they are the best. but im sure it will beat out anything in the price range, or be up towards the top. Cus i think the Profire 610 sounds better than the duet, but that could be more than just the converters, or something completely different.
