JOE MEEK THREE Q the green wonder?

whent to my tech shop today to get my self a BEHRINGER TUBE ULTRAGAIN T1953
yes i know it behringer and i know there reputation but its tube its 2U rack its 2-Channe its got those funky uvb's on there and...... did i metion its TUBE! :P
So whent down there to have a lisen but alas they dident have them in stock and thats when i stunbeld upon the JOE MEEK THREE Q .
Its a funky lital green mono pre whith a compressor and 3 band EQ and was going for $180AU ($134US) more than the behringer so i whent for it. Took it home pluged it in was resanibaly inpresed but still cant stop thinking about those tube in the behringer so i got 10 days before i can take it back and swap it and gain some cash back (hmmm woldent mind some new pick ups for my axe)
what do u guys think?
keep it?
or swap it for the behringer ?

sory that ive been asking alot of qwestions latley about gear but im haveing a splurge atm

Keep the Joemeek and forget about the Behringer!

Tube doesn't mean better, for high end gear it just means different. Low end tube gear is often to be avoided as a cheap tube design often does more bad then good...

have u used ether of the pre's?

I had a behringer tube ultra gain 2200 I think...

way too much noise, and not enough gain...

at first I thought the noise I was recordig was due to bad electricity, but then I tried a different preamp, and the noise went away...

Ended up with a Sm Pr8MkII cleared a lot of things up for me

it's already been said, but bear in mind, a well designed and built solid state circuit will be better than a poorly designed and cheaply build tube circuit any day! tubes does not = automatically good!!
