Baby Bottle AND AT 4047 Have A Rival

Yep, Thomann's are selling the MT 711 S for only £347 That's £38 cheaper than the BB and comparable to the AT 4047.

How fab is THAT!

Wow, that's a good price! The Gefell would easily blow a Baby Bottle or 4047 out of the water.

I have both: the 4047 and a UM-70 (both transformer) and they are different mics.
both warm but very different dynamic response.
this is not strange, as the 4047 uses a 2 micron (mylar?) and the gefell M7 a 9 micron PVC membrame. Or something simular, have to check if you want specific details.
both have their specific applications. This Gefell deal looks pretty good though.
but the question remains:
what is the difference between the MT-711s and the MT-71s?? different body, sure, but what's inside?? The price is almost double?!!?!??!

I found no specific info on the Gefell site. Maybe give Thomann people a call.
need new cable and stuff anyway...
Good tip btw, thanks.

Weird that Geffel don't have the specs of this mic on their site.

Looks to me like the 711 is fixed cardioid, whilst the 71 is switchable. That would explain the doubling of the price. Wonder if it sounds like the rest of the range?

The MT 71S is a cardioid only model. Maybe this is a special edition for Thomann.

I like the option of omni mode on these. for drum overhead.
but only cardiod would be sufficient in a lot of situations... I guess.

UM70 is multi pattern with M7 pvc capsule while the MT 71s uses regular mylar capsule which is probably the same as in the M930 ( Gefell site made no mention of M7 for MT 71). The 'U' designates the M7 capsule and the 's' designates low noise model, at least that is how it was with the UM70 vs the Um70s with transformers, not newer transformerless model. My guess it is just a black MT 71.
