002 and 96k

So am I hearing right that the DIGI 002 cannot record 96k sampling rate via the adat lightpipe?

Indeed, Digidesign does not support S/MUX. It doesn't support it either on the HD interfaces btw.

Yeah, Unfortunately thats true. It only goes up to 48k on the light pipe section. I had one and I sold it and got a MOTU HD192. The MOTU is a little cheaper than the 002 and sounds way better. If sample rate is your main concern, then maybe you should look into a better converter box. BTW, in my opinion, the 002 doesn't perform too well at 96k either.

But if I get a better converter box for use with the 002 am I stuck with only being able to get 2 channels in at a time at 96k via the spdif inputs?

Correct me if I'm wrong here, but I think you can get an EXTRA pair in at 96k via S/PDIF.
