Quick question about monitoring

I've cheked out a few low budget monitor to relatively higher end mointor, why is it always a 2 way speaker? i saw some high end bookshelf stereo speakers that's always 3 ways, would that produce more accurate sounding? just checking these stuff out because it's a little weird for me.

Based on budget speakers the short answer is 'no'. 3 way speakers aren't as accurate. a 2 way system (tweeter and woofer) requires only one crossover circuit (electronics that passively lo-pass the signal going to the woofer and hi-pass the signal going to the tweeter). As with many things, there are different qualities of crossovers.

On really high end systems you will have an active outboard rack crossover to handle just this task alone.

... exactly as stated above...

The accuracy of the crossover matters a LOT... when two speakers are overlapping the same frequency range phase alignment becomes super important, and with a two-way, you only deal with that once... whereas, three ways etc. will have two crossovers, and thus two potentially problematic areas...
