ELECTRO HARMONIX 2-UBE MODS HELP! Virtual Instrument Plugins
Old 20th August 2007
Here for the gear

Hi anyone and everyone.
I have an ELECTRO HARMONIX 2-UBE footpedal pre-amp.

I purchased the unit for budgetary reasons to use primarily in conjunction with a soon to be purchased vintage ELECTRO HARMONIX-SMALL STONE PHASER,to add some further realism to PYRAMID SOUNDS-REAL RHODES, running on my old AKAI S2000 hardware sampler.

The two 12AX7WB tubes/valves in the 2-UBE are plate driven at 300volts Mmmmmm…… Kinda sounded promising,
BUT the problems are:

1. Anything run through it, Bass/keyboards etc, sounds fluffy smeared
and un-focused, abit like a bad tube emulation PLUG-IN.

2.It's also unbalanced and hence can be rather noisy, even when i am mindful of standard gain structure practice. Maybe select higher quality components will help here.

3. I really need to buy a GROOVE TUBES-BRICK, don’t I?

4. I need to mod the unit with INPUT and OUTPUT transformers to beef up the sound, and can’t find a schematic on the net to work out how to do this.

Does any one out there know how to mod these units?….Thanks.
