Bellari 583 Vs Dbx 566

So both go for about the same used, below 500$.
Which one is best? I'm looking for a decent buss comp on the cheap.

-Both are tube although the 566 uses at7's and not ax7's
-583 is full voltage and easily modifiable, not sure about the 566.

I haven't tried either but did own a Dbx 386 pre which I sold quickly enough...

Ideally, I'd buy an old Dbx162 for around 500-600$ but I'd have to be lucky to pay that price. See my other thread about the Dbx craze...
Wow! This has got to stop!

Hence the other options: A 566 (with better tubes) or the Bellari. There's also the Art Pro VLA that alot of people rave about.

Comments?
Thanks,

Ive used it....My general experience with DBX stuff is that it sucks....that incudes the 583...

I have use a couple Bellari's im not sure which ones....but i hated them. Id go with the art pro ......

If I had to pick between the bellari and the DBX..... i think i might go DBX

oups sorry, I meant the Bellari 583...

They dont seem to see alot of use around here.
Yeah the whole dbx silver series doesnt live up to the old Dbx fame.

So whats a decent buss comp for around 500$?

I wonder if a Dbx 586 would be cool as 2buss limiter/eq?
Maybe with good tubes?
Anyone tried that?

actually I'm using a 586 right now with a Dbx166 inserted in the circuit for drumbuss duties with pretty good results. Stiock tubes.
