Your budget rack MVP?

So I have a bit of rack space now.

Just curious as to what y’all would consider your MVP low end rack unit for processing audio, and why.

Perhaps especially if it’s less known than some. But regardless, I’m interested!

Don't know that it's my MVP, but it is one of them...

Klark Teknik EQP-T.

Sounds good, for a couple hundred bucks. Sounds better than the Warm Audio version, to me. Even without any EQ engaged, just adds glow. Worth every penny.

That’s a nice unit (er, 2U ), for sure! And good value.

Used CL 7802

I bought a used Chameleon Labs 7802 2-Channel Opto-Tube Compressor for $400. They show up on occasion. Article Reviewer/Engineer likened it to old style LA2-LA3 types but with it's own vibe.

Alesis Midiverb 2

Dark and grainy verbs with character that sit well in a mix. Also does all the MBV sounds if you want to get weird.

LT Sound Echo Control Center - delay, eq, reverb, chorus

Ensoniq DP/4 - makes synths sound amazing, running softsynths out through a board and this is butter.

Second the Midiverb II, I run a RDS 1900 into it for a homeless man's space echo. Sometimes a junk spring reverb between.
