Questions about Preamps, mixers

Hello all!

I had to register here to just get answers somewhere else than google

I'm planning to do some changes in my studio and first thing that I want to get rid of is my too huge mixing console. Sorry, can't remember in high heavens what was the model, but it is soundcraft console, so you might know how huge they can get..

Basically I need 16 mic inputs (maximum) for recording. I also like to have faders..

I'm currently using focusrite saffire pro 40 +adat with logic pro x.

What type of recommendations you guys would have for me who likes knobs, faders, but not that much huge consoles? Budget goes around $1500-2000.

Sorry for messy first post..

Well, I haven't shopped for mixers in over 15 years, and what I do these days is almost exclusively ITB, so my opinions may be outdated...

That said, I've had a first gen MixWizard 16:2 for a long time now, and I love it. Really great EQ section. You can easily record multi track straight off the preamps by using the insert points, or post fader using the direct outs, so it can adapt to your preferred workflow. It's rack mountable, so should be compact enough to free up some space.

I don't know if things got better, worse, or the same in later versions of it, but I love mine!

Thanks for your input! I will look into this option as well
