Funny nonsense pics

I was looking for a pop filter in eBay and found this photo of a guy singing trough a pop filter mounted on a mic stand and holding the mic with his hand instead of the mic clamp. I know is kinda stupid and that guy doesn’t have any idea of what’s a mic stand for but I thought it would be funny to post silly and nonsense images like this. If you have some, please share

There was a music video on Youtube were there was a Sennheiser 441 pointing upwards and the guy was singing to it as side-address. Unfortunately I can't find the video now. Similar "techniques" take place every now and then

Yup.
Might be the same special version RE20 they used in the Queen movie...

To be fair, a friend of mine was using a front address mic like a side address for recording guitars.... but it sounded great! I had to point out that he was using it wrong but to keep doing it because it worked.

Yeah ads are always a great source of nonsense technique like that. I love seeing ads where the performer is singing into the end of a side address mic, or cupping a condenser and/or having their mouth pressed right against it. I think in that last case they take "eating the mic" a bit too seriously.

Here's a picture of singing into the end of a side address mic and touching the shock mount from Behringer's website. Oh yeah, it's a cardioid mic too, so they're singing into the top and looks like behind the diaphragm as well.

It's not a photo, but the silliest micing technique I ever saw was an "Assistant Engineer" putting up an RE20 pointed at the wall to "get a great room tone". It took me a few seconds to realize he wasn't joking. I threw him out of the session.

Yeah, I haven't done too much of that myself, but I've worked with engineers who did. In my limited experience, it's a low percentage shot, but it definitely works very well sometimes. I certainly wouldn't throw anyone out for suggesting it!!!

Tracking decisions should be made with ears, not eyes. If it sounds good, it is good, regardless of the method or mic used.

Well there are some "brains n' beauty" gals too...

For example, Hedy Lamarr (considered to be the most beautiful actress EVER, by some film critics BTW), was most certainly a genius. She was also quite a noted inventor, if you check it out. Oh yeah, if you look this up on your cell phone- She co-created "Spread Spectrum" Technology, helping to pioneer the wireless communication needed!

She was really gorgeous and a smart woman, it doesn’t mean that happens very often, what actually happens very often is people getting offended by some jokes of mine

My humor isn't always considered "Politically Correct" either.
My sense is that you have a very good heart nonetheless!

By the way, another smart stunning beauty, who's life story is also amazing is...
Ida Lupino, the great actress and also a great Film Director.

Not many people nowadays, know that she had to surmount Polio,
yet she accomplished so much.

Hmmm...I’m quite sure that isn’t an end address mic though...

I don’t know if it’s true or not but I heard there are AE’s who do sound design for the adult film industry.

Yep. Not unusual at all. I keep a Rode NT2 parked in a far corner facing the wall at all times (although most of the time set to Omni). Does the “glue” thing like nobody’s business!

'end vs side address' is the episode's subject apparently.
I could have been clearer..
