Question Is there an analog multi-band compressor under $1k?

I was saving up for an SSL clone, but I think multi-band would be more useful.

The no-longer-made Rane DC24 was a 2-band compressor for under a grand. Should be well under a grand on the second-hand market.

2 freaking bands? At least 3, please. 5 would be excellent, but expensive as hell.

Behringer MDX8000 Combinator is 4 band, designed by Matthias Carstens of RME. RME Designs |. They've got a digital version in their X series mixers.

I've got the MDX4000 Mastercom, a 2 band one. The bands are split at either 500Hz or 2kHz, which feels a bit limiting, but I'm glad to have it.

Damn, I always find stuff when they stop producing them. I hope they come out with a new version.

4 bands are awesome. Sub / low / high / 10k+

If they had separate threshold and attack it would be even better, of course.

Drawmer 1973 - haven’t checked in a while but definitely under 1000 second hand or new discounted.

About $1500. Not bad at all. I'm going to check the reviews.

3 bands is pretty good. Lows Mids Highs.

Here for the gear
I acquired a 1973 and love it. I'm "out of the box" and mix on a combo of hard disc recorders and analog outboard. It is SUPER useful during mix down and have even started to use it during tracking.
I recommend it.

What's your strategy for using it on the final mix?
